Description

EIF5A2, a member of eukaryotic initiation factor 5A subfamily, is an essential protein tightly linked to cellular polyamine homeostasis. The precise role of eIF-5A in protein biosynthesis is not known but it functions by promoting the formation of the first peptide bond during the initial stage of protein synthesis. It seems to be the only eukaryotic protein to have a hypusine residue, which is a post-translational modification of a lysine by the addition of a butylamino group. Recombinant human EIF5A2 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography
